HISTORY
The Sign of the Dove Church founded Shelia Daniels Christian Academy in 2000. The first school year began with an enrollment of 26 students. The staff consisted of two teachers, one teacher’s aide, and the school director. SDCA has grown tremendously every year since its inception primarily by word of mouth. Currently, SDCA’s enrollment populaton of pre-kindergarten (K3-K4) through the eighth grades is 76 students; there are 8 staff members and several volunteers.
PURPOSE
Our purpose is to cultivate knowledge through the truth of God’s word. Our emphasis is on academic enrichment and character development to prepare students to become future leaders. We help each student gain a thorough comprehension and command of the fundamental processes used in communicating and dealing with others, such as to reason logically, reading, writing, speaking, listening and performing mathematical computations.
PERSONAL AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT
- To help the student develop his/her personality based on a proper understanding and acceptance of himself/herself as a unique individual created in the image of God.
- To teach the students to treat everyone with love and respect.
- To encourage each student to be a contributing member of our society.
- To promote an understanding of time as a God-given commodity and the individual responsibility for effective use of time.
- To promote physical fitness, good health habits, and wise use of the body.
WORKING WITH HOMES
- SDCA views parents as an integral part of their child's success in education. SDCA works closely with parents in every phase of the student’s development, especially as it relates to the school program.
MORAL AND SPIRITUAL GROWTH
- To teach the Bible as God’s inspired Word and to develop attitudes of love and respect toward it.
- To encourage the development of self-discipline and responsibility in the student based on respect for and submission to God and all other authority.
