About Shelia Daniels |
(1971-1999)
Born September 21, 1971 in Chicago, Illinois, Shelia had always been known as a vocal person. If you spent any time with Shelia and she never said a word, treasure that as a rare moment in history. Shelia was full of contagious energy that few could resist. Her smile brightened any room she entered.
Shelia's Christian walk began as a child where seeds were planted in her heart by her family and from the teachings she received at Christ Tabernacle Church in Chicago. Like many of us, Shelia grew up knowing of God and tried to live the life of a good person.
While attending the University of Illinois at Chicago, Shelia had planned to join a group of friends for a night out. When she arrived at the rendezvous point the only person who showed up was David Daniels. They both later recalled, before that night neither of them were interested in the other. That date turned into a great friendship, which turned into a wonderful relationship that led to a beautiful marriage in 1996.
Shortly before the marriage, Shelia and David attended several services of Living Word Ministries with Pastor Bill Winston. It was here that Shelia developed a desire to know God. After moving to the Waukegan area, Shelia and David began attending The Sign of The Dove Church under the teaching of Pastors Harry and Deborah Stackhouse. Armed with access to the wealth of knowledge, teaching and wisdom at The Sign of the Dove, Shelia's growth in her relationship with Christ took off like a rocket. She developed an insatiable hunger to know God and to draw closer to Him.
As she grew she became a brighter and brighter light for Christ. Members of her family, childhood friends, co-workers and all who came in contact with Shelia could see, if not hear in her words, her love for Christ and what He was doing in her life. Shelia knew God and she wanted everyone else to experience the joy she was experiencing. Her unwavering character gained her respect even among those that did not respect her open display of faith.
Shelia became a Christian example that affected the lives of the people around her.
During Shelia's pregnancy with her first child, she prayed fervently over the life inside her. One of the specific prayers in her prayer journal was that God would allow her to deliver a healthy baby and she could experience motherhood. On March 10th, 1999 her prayers were answered with the birth of David Joshua Daniels. Shelia expressed to her husband David the two most important concerns for their son: (1) His spiritual development and relationship with Christ, and (2) His intellectual development.
On May 10th, 1999, after a three-day battle with a rare blood disease, Shelia was called home to be with her Savior.
